Many students believe that having police officers and sherifs at schools are a waste of time and that they are just fun killers, but officers are not here to babysit students or to have a big power trip, they are here for students’ safety. Officers don’t just protect students’ officers protect teachers as well, as officers try to stop dangerous situations before they even happen.

Officers were trained to maintain a safe learning environment, conduct safety drills, respond to emergencies, and investigate illegal activity that may happen at schools.

Officers also help build positive relationships with students about law enforcement as well as become key role models and mentors to inspire students to do good in school and in their live. Officers have many ways of dealing with threats at schools says deputy sisson “when we try to stoop fights we like to go to the fight and separate them to limit harm for the students”

Officers do not hurt students and will not use their authority to take advantage of students and teachers. They are here to help maintain order in schools and to give hope to students and teachers that they will be protected while trying to get a proper education as stated by deputy sisson “ we try to be role modules for students and help create a safe environment for students to succeed”. deputy sisson has been protection Collierville high school for eleven years and has worked hard to make sure students are safe from intruders.

The most rewarding part for officers that work at schools is seeing the students grow up protected from harm and watch them walk across the stage to receive their diploma and become respectable people for society.

Officers at schools will try to help students succeed and to develop a bond to motivate student to do well in their classes and help them graduate and enter life with a good mind no matter where they go.
