Valentine’s Day is a very important holiday that many people celebrate across the world. A lot of people consider it to be the holiday to show love, appreciation, and gratitude for those closest to them. Valentine’s Day first started due to a blend of Christian martyrdom, ancient Roman rituals, and medieval traditions. Many couples buy gifts for each other such as flowers, candy, or something special item that they can hold close to. Many couples also enjoy going out to eat with their loved ones, such as going to a favorite restaurant, ordering some food that they enjoy, and then going out for a treat together afterwards. Common places that are visited on Valentine’s Day to get a frozen treat are Chick-Fil-a, Frost Bakery Shop, Sonic, Baskin Robbins, Great American Cookies, and others. Other couples also enjoy going to the movies or watching something that both parties enjoy. As stated by several parents, they use Valentine’s Day to celebrate familial love, not just romance, focusing on building emotional connections through special breakfasts, small gifts, and crafting notes. In fact, several businesses always find themselves particularly busy on days like Valentine’s Day. Common examples include flower, chocolate, jewelry shops along with online shopping, restaurants, shopping areas, and hotels. Families around the world celebrate Valentine’s Day in different ways. For example, in South Korea and Japan, women give chocolate to men on Feb 14 while men reciprocate the feeling on “White Day” which happens on March 14. In Denmark and Norway, they are known for exchanging handmade cards with white flowers, and men sometimes send gaekkebrev (anonymous, funny poems). In Germany, couples often exchange gifts like heart-shaped ginger cookies, red roses, or figurines of pigs or chimneysweeps for good luck. Also in the Philippines, it is a popular day for mass weddings and vow renewals. Valentine’s Day is also a great day to propose to your loved one, as the day is already being celebrated with love, gifts, and quality time. Finally, several major television networks have released episodes that center around Valentine’s Day which many viewers can enjoy. So, if you haven’t already, make sure you get your loved ones a gift or something that shows your appreciation for them.
