Principal Roger Jones of Collierville High School is more than just an administrator; he’s a mentor, a leader, and a champion for his students. With a passion for education ignited by his inspiring
math teachers, Mr. Jones has dedicated his career to shaping the lives of young people.
Mr. Jones’s belief in fostering a sense of belonging and support for all students, regardless of their backgrounds, reassures the community of a secure and nurturing environment.
“Making sure that students have people they can connect with is crucial,” he explained. “We need to wrap
our arms around them, welcome them home, and help them find their place.”
Mr. Jones’ leadership style is characterized by collaboration and a focus on student success. However, in addition to focusing on his students’ success, he empowers his Faculty to contribute their unique skills and perspectives, creating a solid, cohesive team.
“I want to be transformational,” he said. “I want to collaborate with people. I don’t want to be the type of person who has to say, ‘That was my idea.’ It’s because of us. If there’s no we, there is no me.”
Beyond academics, Mr. Jones is passionate about providing students with a well-rounded education. Collierville High School offers various extracurricular activities, from sports and clubs to arts and music.
“I love seeing what students can do outside of academics,” Mr. Jones said. “It makes me so happy when kids connect with the building.”
As Tennessee’s largest high school, Collierville High School faces unique challenges. Mr. Jones prioritizes school safety and crisis management, ensuring students feel secure and protected.
“School safety is paramount,” he said. “We put in measures to ensure our kids understand what to do in an
emergency.”
Mr. Jones’s dedication to his students and commitment to creating a positive and inclusive school environment has made him a beloved figure in the Collierville community. His leadership has inspired countless students to reach their full potential and become successful citizens.
