Collierville is looking ahead—not just to next year, but to the next quarter-century.
Town officials have officially partnered with planning firm Freese and Nichols to develop a long-range comprehensive plan that will guide Collierville’s growth through the year 2050. The initiative, announced earlier this month, aims to address key areas including land use, transportation, parks and recreation, utilities, and economic development.
“This is about preserving what makes Collierville special while preparing for the challenges and opportunities of the future,” said Town Administrator James Lewellen. “We want to hear from residents of all ages, backgrounds, and neighborhoods.”
The planning process will include public workshops, surveys, and stakeholder meetings over the coming months. Town leaders emphasize that community input will be essential in shaping priorities—from traffic congestion and green space to housing and business development.
Planning for the Next Generation
While the plan will affect all residents, town officials are encouraging participation from younger community members, including students, who will live with the long-term outcomes of today’s decisions. The initiative presents an opportunity for youth to engage in civic planning and help shape the town they’ll inherit.
The town’s last comprehensive plan was adopted in 2010. Since then, Collierville has seen rapid growth in population, infrastructure, and commercial development. Officials say the new plan will help ensure that future expansion is balanced with sustainability and quality of life.
What’s Next?
Freese and Nichols will begin collecting data and community feedback this fall, with a draft plan expected by late 2026. Residents can follow updates and participate in the process at collierville.com/2050plan.
Whether it’s a new park, a redesigned intersection, or a vision for downtown, Collierville’s future is being written now—and every voice matters.
