AUBURN, ALABAMA (CHSTV) – Auburn University has officially parted ways with head football coach Hugh Freeze following a crushing 10–3 home loss to Kentucky, marking the Tigers’ fifth SEC defeat this season. Freeze, in his third year at Auburn, leaves with a 15–19 overall record and a 6–16 mark in SEC play. Defensive coordinator DJ Durkin is expected to serve as interim head coach.
Saturday night, chants of “Fire Hugh” were heard through Jordan-Hare Stadium after the loss. Auburn, now 4–5 on the season, faces an uphill battle to reach bowl eligibility. Auburn University will pay out a $15.4 million buyout.
