COLLIERVILLE TOWN SQUARE — A beloved local eatery has received national attention, and the community is savoring the moment. Dyer’s Café, located in Corridor Town Square, was recently named the #3 Best Burger in America by Food & Wine magazine—an honor that surprised even the owner.
“It caught us a little off guard,” said owner Mike Dyer. “Of course, we’ve always believed in what we do, and we know our burgers are some of the best around. But when Food & Wine contacts you to say you’re in their top five burger joints in the country—it’s a pretty cool deal.”
Dyer’s journey as a small business owner is rooted in the community. He opened the café 15 years ago after helping develop Mill Street back in 1998. Since then, the restaurant has become a staple for locals and visitors alike, known for its commitment to quality and a clean, customer-friendly environment.
“We have daily duty lists and follow strict guidelines from the health department,” Dyer explained. “It’s important to us to stay in full compliance and maintain the highest standards.”
Dyer’s Café has built its reputation on flavorful, freshly prepared burgers—but like any restaurant, challenges can arise, especially when dealing with supply chain issues.
“If we run out of something, we try to fix it right away by contacting one of our suppliers,” said Dyer. “If we can’t, we use what we call an ‘86 board’ to let staff know we’re temporarily out. But with the systems we have in place, we’re usually well-prepared to handle it.”
Reflecting on the years of running the café, Dyer acknowledged both the highs and lows that come with long-term business ownership.
“When you’ve been somewhere a long time, you go through it all—ups, downs, joys, sadness,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of great employees and even more incredible customers. It’s hard sometimes to see them come and go.”
Asked what keeps Dyer’s Café thriving, even in tough times, he kept it simple:“Our strength is consistent quality—every time, every order. If there’s a weakness, it’s finding consistent help when we need it. That’s been the ongoing challenge.”
As the news of their top-three ranking spreads, Dyer’s Café is buzzing with energy and new customers eager to try what many now consider one of the best burgers in the country.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-time visitor, one thing’s for sure: at Dyer’s Café, every burger is served with pride, tradition, and a side of community spirit.
