Louis Reid Goodman is a 72-year-old women that lives in Collierville, TN. She was born in Mobile, Alabama and came to Collierville December 2018. She moved to Collierville to be with her family with that being mostly the sole reason. She is a relatively new resident in Collierville, so she doesn’t have any stories here, but she does have advice for people looking to come to this cheery town. She explained, “It is a good place to live. Small and easy to get around with almost anything you would need and very close to Memphis for anything else you would want. The people are friendly, and the town is clean with much less crime than Memphis and other cities.” She is a retired woman but her old job was a nurse. She was very good at her job with her job explanation being, “I took care of the patients, spoke with family members, assisted doctors and did paperwork and helped other nurses and technicians and gave instructions when needed.” With being a nurse, you have a lot of crazy stories with a very diverse environment. She was very eager to share a story with us about how full moons and birth relate to each other in the hospital. She told, “A full moon really does affect people more babies are born during a full moon, and people can tend to go crazy during a full moon and the Emergency Department is always overflowing during a full moon. I still can’t look at a full moon and just enjoy how beautiful it is without thinking about how ridiculously busy hospitals are. I remember one elderly lady who was sent to the ER from her nursing hometown be checked out and she was very confused. She had her dentures only halfway in her mouth, actually hanging out of her mouth and it was very hard to understand what she was saying. The doctor asked if she needed help putting her teeth in correctly and she said that she had them in right, just like her doctor told her to wear them.” With that story concluded our time had ended. I asked her if there was anything else to add but she couldn’t think of anything. She had told us her amazing stories and had shared her incredible advice. And with that, I thanked her very much for her time.
